Intel
Intel non è un brand, è qualcosa in più. Se si pensa infatti ai microprocessori e a molto di ciò che ruota attorno all'hardware di un pc, viene subito alla mente questo nome.
La Intel Corporation, con sede a Santa Clara in California, nasce nel 1968 fondata da Robert Noyce, il "Sindaco della Silicon Valley" e da Gordon Moore (l'inventore delle omonime leggi sulle prestazioni dei processori). Ma la vera spinta viene data da Andrew Grove che ha diretto l'azienda per ben trent'anni.
Fin dall'inizio la Intel si dedico alla progettazione di memoria DRAM SRAM e ROM ma, in seguito all'invenzione dell'Intel 4004, il primo microprocessore, l'azienda si dedicò sempre più a questo tipo di prodotto, fino a renderlo l'unica specialità della casa.
Infatti, dagli anni '80 la produzione di memorie è stata abbandonata ed ora vengono prodotti microprocessori, componenti di rete, chipset per motherboard (scheda madre), chip per schede video e molti altri circuiti integrati.Intel controlla più dell'80% del mercato dei microprocessori e la sua posizione dominante ha procurato non pochi guai con l'Antitrust.
Alcuni processori per PC Desktop sono il Processore Intel® Core™ i7, Processore Intel® Core™ i5*, Processore Intel® Core™ i5, Processore Intel® Core™ i3, Processore Intel® Core™ i7 vPro™.
Per i portatili invece sono disponibili, tra gli altri, il Processore Intel® Core™ i5, ed il Processore Intel® Core™ i3.
