La Levi Strauss & Co. è uno dei più grandi marchi al mondo di abbigliamento con negozi in più di 110 paesi. Non c'è nessun'altra azienda con una presenza comparabile nel mercato dei jeans e dei pantaloni.
Fu fondata nel 1853 da Levi Strauss, un immigrante di origine bavarese che aprì a San Francisco, in California, una filiale della società di tessuti gestita da lui stesso e dai fratelli e con sede a New York. Benché la Levi's producesse pantaloni resistenti adatti al lavoro già da allora, i jeans moderni non comparvero prima degli anni '20.

George Formby - Sitting On The Ice In the Ice Rink/Levi's Monkey Mike (1933) After an unsuccessful career as a jockey George Formby followed in his Fathers' footsteps to become a Comedian and cut over 230 records in a career that spanned 40 years from 1921 until his death in 1961. Formby took the stage name of his father (George Formby Senior) who had been a famous Music Hall turn in the Edwardian era. He was unable to read music or even tune his banjolele (which had a banjo body and a ukulele neck) so he had many instruments all pre-tuned to the song he was going to sing and swapped between them. Despite this he entertained millions through the Thirties and Forties in films and on record and touring for the Troops during the War. |
